Asylum at a price
Published on May 08th, 2021

The request for assistance by the PM from the Saudi royalty MBS is sad.
When the same Saudi royal gave asylum and special treatment to the Sharifs who were true law breakers in Pakistan and escaped prison to be treated to special palaces in the KSA.
It shows that the Saudis have a personal bias and do not respect the state of Pakistan.

In one case, Nawaz Sharif is honoured by the Saudi Prince even though he has been convicted by the state of Pakistan. For they offered him asylum contrary to the interest of Pakistan.

Similarly an asylum and nationality offered to Altaf Hussein has given protection to someone who has broken the laws of Pakistan and uses the cloak of UK protection to vent diatribes against the state of Pakistan.
This should not be acceptable and should be made clear to the UK governments and Saudi princes.

This was a lingering insult to the people of Pakistan. A family convicted of crimes against the people cannot be given VIP treatment by a brotherly country.

Sadly the same treatment is meted out to Altaf who resides in up market, north London. A person who was guilty of multiple murders in Pakistan on UK soil.

These were not misdemeanours but crimes that could invite jail sentences of twenty years or more showing their severity.
Sharif’s plunder of Pakistan’s wealth almost bankrupted this country.

The British government becomes a party to this plunder when the funds are parked in UK banks and real estate.
The latter is highly visible as it is portrayed regularly on international television with scores of protestors shouting abuse outside their residences in London with a large expat population now living in the UK and part of the UK political machine.

The monarchy of England itself will be jeopardised by such criminals entering the political electorate.

Such a criminal bent to their activities in the UK maybe detrimental to politics of the UK and the huge funds at their disposal could also be a threat and may be used contrary to the interests of the UK.
Of similar effect is the protection granted to the Sharifs by KSA.

A huge amount of Pakistani money was stolen by the Sharifs and a sum of one billion dollars parked in Saudi Arabia as reported by Broadsheet, was moved from KSA from whence its whereabouts are unknown.

This is clearly an amount of one billion dollars which instead of being returned to the people of Pakistan - is beyond the reach of Pakistani authorities with Saudi connivance.

This is obviously an incident where the Saudi government can be seen as a partner in the robbery of the funds belonging to the Pakistani People.

Broadsheet has identified to the Pakistani government that this billion dollars was indeed part of the stolen Pakistani money.

These funds should be recovered from the Saudis for being party to this illicit movement away from Pakistani authorities.
Both the instances show that asylum was granted to the Sharifs and Altaf Hussein for significant amounts.
It is indeed shameful that KSA and UK are now extending asylum at a price.
Shameful indeed is that the exaggerated price belongs to the poor of Pakistan.
The same who are called poor ‘miskeen’ by the Saudis.
It is we Pakistanis that should now treat the Saudis with well deserved contempt.

Nawaz Sharif and Altaf Hussein should be handed back to the Pakistani authorities under handcuffs to face trials for their crimes in Pakistan.
The difficulties being faced by Imran in his government can now be seen to be part of a larger conspiracy which includes the governments of UK and KSA combined.

It is no wonder that the PTI of Imran Khan cannot succeed against such a massive political combination of these forces.

KSA and UK must wake up to the fact that their backing of the Sharifs and Altafs are contrary to the interest of Pakistani people and they should mean well for the Pakistani people.

They should ensure that the Sharifs and Altaf Hussein are forced to face music in their countries of origin and where the crimes have been committed.

Only then can we recognise the true friendship of these two governments for the people of Pakistan who have been so wronged.

It maybe interesting if these Broadsheet documents are used to file charges against KSA and UK for being complicit in the embezzlement of Pakistani funds.

Anyone granting protection to a criminal is liable to the same charges of complicity that are applicable to the original offence.
The punishment for receiving stolen property is a well known part of criminology.
