Fakir S. Ayazuddin
Political Analyst

A son of Fakir Syed Wahiduddin of the Fakir family, one of the oldest families of the Punjab, going back well over two hundred years. He is a direct descendant of Fakir Nooruddin who was the Prime Minister at the court of Maharajah Ranjit Singh. Fakir S. Ayazuddin was born in 1938 in the old city in Lahore, he went to Aitchison College Lahore, Berkhamsted School England, and then to Trinity College Dublin.


On completion of his studies he joined the family business of Textiles, Fakir Spinning Mills at Gambat in Sind He then diversifiedto the field of Aviation and Tourism where in he excelled. Having the General Sales Agency of Delta Airlines & Philippines Airlines, He built- up Philippines Airlines to the No. 1 Carrier in Pakistan with a turnover of 2 million dollars per month. Showing his innovative streak, he purchased his first Apple computer, and using the Visicalc application, he tailored it to write Airline aviation Accounts, which till then had been a tedious and laborious affair, into a simple typing exercise. This was picked up by Swissair Pakistan, and other airlines followed. There was no charge, but the satisfaction of bringing Pakistan into the computer age.


In keeping with his nature and desire to tackle and venture into new fields he formed a joint Venture with American President Lines, and ICTSI of the Philippines for setting up a Container Terminal at Karachi Port. The investment in this project is well over US$85Million. This State of the Art Terminal is already in full operation, and has brought KPT in line with the other Ports in the World.

 

He bought a derelict property and restored it to its original splendor, and has been complimented by everyone. It can be viewed on this website.

 

His interests in gardening are well known, his residential Garden having won gold medal for winning 1st prize 3 years in a row.

 

He is married with 3 sons. The eldest Samir studied at Berkhamsted School England and Boston University. The second son Aziz has just graduated from the Wharton Business School at UPenn in Philadelphia, and is working with a renowned investment bank in London, and the third Amin having graduated in law from Nottingham University is now practising law in Karachi.

 

He is also Honorary Consul of Portugal, in Karachi.

 

He has been Elected President of the Sind Olympic Association, and managed a very successful Sind Games which were held in April of 1999,where the COAS (now President) was the chief Guest. This year he organized the 30th National Games in Karachi where he hosted 5000 Athletes , the largest event of its kind in Pakistan. The then Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaukat Aziz was the Chief Guest.
