The resilience of the American System
Published on November 14th, 2020

Kamala Harris the US Vice President elect is without doubt extremely well qualified. A period of her life when she was the Chief Prosecutor of California a difficult position for a woman, one that she performed with remarkable success.

She had to prosecute in a state like California with such a high crime rate and extremely dangerous and hardened criminals which make up a large part of the dark nether world of the US society.
To succeed in such a workplace must have have been an incredible experience.

For her to emerge unviolated, untainted and so unsullied that she could be elected to become the Vice President of the US where the scope of her mandate has been multiplied manifold and she has to address all the problems of the US, present and future which includes every aspect of economic and social life in the US.

Given the intense scrutiny that she underwent, speaks volumes for her abilities, and for the American electoral system.

It is equally remarkable that even with many flaws in a troubled person such as Trump, he could become President of the United States, both are examples of extreme diversity.

The system should be re-examined, for if true, the appointment of such a flawed character like trump who could have unleashed an Armageddon wheel, consequences cannot be imagined.

Unfortunately as they say in America, it ain’t over yet! The election of Kamala Harris does restore faith in the American system.

To watch the performance of Justice Barret during her intense grilling by the US Senators, was another example of a US person highly educated and refined, who endured the ordeal without a hiccup.

Judge Barret won the acclaim of millions of non Americans who witnessed her gruelling ordeal on television, and cheered her on. Especially brilliant was the moment when the Senator sarcastically asked Barret to hold up the pad that she had been consulting through her examination.

The note pad was one of the Senate of the United States and was completely blank. Remarkable indeed. Here was a woman facing hostile Senators, and she held her own for every moment without a pause.

That was indeed a display of studied brilliance. I congratulate the American people on producing such a high calibre of intellect, and am sure the US judiciary need have no qualms about her judgements, they will be strictly in accordance with the law.

Barret epitomises the ultimate in education and wisdom combined, seldom observed outside the hallowed grounds of an ecclesiastical monastery.

To dispense justice at the highest forum in the land could not be in more trusted, and capable hands and would be a benefit to both, the bench and the court.
This may also be President Trump’s most important legacy.
