In an earlier piece, I had observed that the army Chief, and the DG Rangers were working in tandem, and the operation in Sindh was going well, with many people having been picked up on terror related charges. The Federal Govt under the Prime Minister was ostensibly cooperating, not with standing his arrangement with Zardari for mutual protection. This arrangement could falter when the corruption scams start getting closer to the PMs cronies in the Punjab. Threats are being hurled by the PPP and the MQM over the primary focus being restricted to only the MQM and the PPP.

It is not strange that the PTI is not complaining of such persecution. Mainly because Imran has his aura of honesty surrounding him, and this is impermeable. No other Pakistani after the founding fathers enjoyed this reputation. His biggest threat comes from the overwhelming envy that rises against him. Mostly by people who being lesser beings create cannot find any other fault. They certainly have nothing better on offer. Also the Assembly members are silent except those on the hit list of the NAB, the names are already well known to the media. As such the people arraigned against Rangers action in anticipation of their arrest, with the corrupt members of the assemblies, are all in a state of anxious expectancy, awaiting the knock of NAB. To sum up, the drive against the criminal elements is going well. The constitution is being followed. However, the Sindh Government in dragging its feet over the next step, which entails the prosecution of the corrupt. And by the Pakistani power shift to the corrupt, the control of the Sindh Govt. lies in Dubai with Zardari. Leading to an avowed non cooperation with the centre. This could expose the Sindh govt to violation of the constitution leading to charges of terrorism and in the hands of a good lawyer treason could be invoked. Because the Sindh govt is loathe to prosecute its own highly lucrative association, and associates of Zardari. It seems he is still master of his own PPP, and is adept at avoiding prosecution, by virtue of filling the legal department with cronies to do his bidding. Protection of Zardari being the foremost assignment.

And so the politicians in Pakistan have decided to pit the civilian administration against the Rangers. Putting themselves firmly against the constitution. A Supreme Court judgement could easily invoke the relevant articles, and many of the politicians in Sindh would be disqualified and in jail.
What is clear to the people of Pakistan is the criminal intent and the massive scams being perpetrated in Pakistan, by these same politicians, at the cost of the people of Pakistan, who will continue their struggle in poverty. Far better to have one bloody revolution so that a generation of Pakistanis can get relief, and progress. Continuing under the same gang of thieves will give more of the same. Till a new messiah appears. Imran Khan has already been outmanoeuvred by these politicians, and Musharraf before him.

Perhaps it would be advisable for a mini-martial law to shake the present too-well entrenched politicos out of their stranglehold on the law abiding masses, so that any new wannabe politicians dreaming of a life of crime should be discouraged by the fate they would face. It is a pity that a public prosecution and punishment has long been abolished. Perhaps the public should be reintroduced to witness and the leadership receiving their justice at the hands of the hangmen. Zardari has learned to manipulate the power structure, only too well, and has succeeded till he now sits atop the power hill. However the structure is now shaky, because too many people are aware of the rotten corruption in the system, and are realising that their benefits are being usurped by Zardari’s cronies. The time has come for a change. Gen Raheel has done a fine job. Many hard core criminals are behind bars. Their prosecution is essential to the system, and if the criminals are allowed to escape the law, we would revert back to our lawless state of twenty deaths a day and more. Then all the good work done by the DG Rangers and Gen Raheel would come to nought, only this time the Pakistan Army would have been defeated by a common illiterate criminal.

The latest news in the ongoing DG Rangers CM Sindh saga, is fast reaching another twist, with the PM having allowed the DG Rangers to go ahead with provisos. The main one being that the Rangers shall not arrest anyone without permission of the Provincial Govt. thus bringing the Rangers under CM Sindh. The CM Sindh has already declared himself as following the orders of Asif Zardari, the head of the PPP, itself the main nest of most of the criminals wanted by the Rangers, and already seen to be resisting the moves of the Law enforcement Agencies. Zardari is crowing about having fought the Army to a standstill, encouraging other lawbreakers to follow his example and to continue on their criminal rampage. Surely Pakistan cannot sustain further economic damage? And as the prosecuting agencies are not only not doing their jobs, most are subverting the few that are attempting to comply with the laws.

The stage is being set for Gen Shareef to call a halt to these challenges to the authority of the state. And he must state unambiguously that if any person commits any crimes political or otherwise, then that person shall face the law as proscribed. The issue that faces Pakistan today is that the politician insists that all his mistakes are not crimes, as being a politician he is above the law. He argues further, that as he is elected by the people he is answerable to only to the people. Not to any judge or any court. His election by the electorate gives him an absolute mandate to rule till the next election. This point has to be cleared immediately. Are the politicians above the law? In either case all politicians must be scrutinised carefully, and disqualified as per the law. Or else the law should be amended to accommodate the politicians, as a law unto themselves. This may exonerate the politicians but threaten a breakdown of society. Interestingly, the Chinese 45 billion dollar investment is coming with its own policing and security system. As they are well aware that this huge investment cannot be left to the mercy of the Pakistani political mafia, who are adept at extortion. The Chinese will protect their investment and we may see many oriental Raymond Davis’s. Yet another modern day supplant to the East India company. Replacing the three families that rule Pakistan today. Albeit at a lower cost. The Pakistanis will remain slaves, only the masters will change.
