Articles of the year 2015

Looking at the history of Pakistan, if we examine all the previous Prime Ministers and Presidents, we realize that not one of our leaders had put the Nation above self, and everyone except Liaqat ali Khan and of course Jinnah, have considered themselves paramount, and their duty to Pakistan is secondary.
The students of history will be shocked at the realization that Bhutto was the architect of the 1965 war, that led to the breakup of Pakistan. Bhutto also Nationalized Industries, setting back our dreams of economic progress, from which we have not recovered. Bhutto not only destroyed the Pakistani dream, but he also lined his own pockets while he did so.
Similarly Benazir and her husband became famous for blatant corruption, and the cases against her husband continue to this day. His freedom from jail till date is due to some fancy footwork by his lawyers, and a very cooperative opposition. The Muk Muka formula of the Sharifs is working so far. In the meanwhile monumental scams are surfacing on a daily basis. Finger- pointing is now an excercise in futility.
After a careful scrutiny, the only leader who believes in Pakistan first is Imran Khan. It is yet to be seen if the Establishment of Pakistan. The most formidable force, and the true arbiter in the destiny of this country, has still not decided on the game plan. The status quo is very attractive to the establishment, because they already control the ropes, and would be reluctant to give up their hold on milking the lucrative system. To them Imran is the threat to the status quo, and any threat to their control would be abhorrent to them.
This could possibly explain the rumours of the Army and the bureaucracy not trusting Imran. And this is the reason for the insidious sly undercurrent of mistrust, whereas the converse should be true. Imran is the only trustworthy candidate on the horizon, and clean. The others have all been tried and found wanting, from petty thievery, murder, abduction, kidnapping for ransom, arson, to mega scams, these are all charges that have been confessed to by political workers. Instead of the party concerned being banned, the Party is crying foul, and of being persecuted. The blame game has been a part of politics everywhere, but nowhere have criminals been inducted into the mainstream of politics as they have in Pakistan. Two successive Prime Ministers have been charged and convicted of corruption by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. One has been pardoned by the President of the same political party, the PPP, and the other is awaiting sentencing.
The Establishment by inviting and protecting persons who are self confessed criminals, of serious crimes would give these crimimals legal cover, worse it could allow them pursue their criminal acts,or increase their crimes with a newly acquired broader power, with a political over emboldening them for more criminal acts. The establishment cannot hide behind the fig leaf of protecting democracy, in their inaction against the criminals they will confirm their support of fascism in its worst form and most recent face.
Suffice to say that the leadership has invariably bent towards corruption, and this observation should change the thinking of the concerned people so that honest leadership can emerge. The Establishment must now assist people, such as Imran, for the hopes, and the future of the Nation to look toward Imran and not on the proven corrupt. It is time the elite, follow the mainstream public who have already shown their massive support for Imran. The last election results massively rigged as per the Muk Muka formula, have locked Pakistan into a five year repeat of corruption, unless the Judicial commission decides that -as claimed by all the political parties, that massive corruption did indeed take place. In that case the Supreme Court will be the decider. If the judicial commission decides otherwise, Imran will have to take to the streets, and a battle on the streets could ensue. Maybe the bloodletting will do the country some good.
The establishment should realize that in a bloody change, they stand to lose the most, for the entire blame of the previous corrupt governments, will fall on them. They would do well to anticipate the change, and assist, rather than resist, and be swept aside.
